It is hard to pick one single thing that I liked best about our trip to Kochi, India. I am going to pick a day that I liked the best. This would be the Monday we spent with Jose and Carmen.

Arriving at their home and yoga studio was like a little piece of heaven tucked away only minutes from the
hustle of the city. The grounds were beautiful with vanilla plants, trees, flowers, Buda statues and fountains.
I could have skipped the mosquitos though!
After presenting our routine, we were treated to some lessons on Iyengar Yoga which I had never heard of or
practiced prior to our trip. I found it to be a challenging but enjoyable form of yoga.
We were treated to”breakfast” at a nearby local restaurant where we were able to “become one with our food”
and eat with our hands. However, most of us thought this was our lunch which we later learned was incorrect.
Carmen and Jose then brought us to an area called Chendamangalam. I found the area
interesting and refreshing that four different religions and people coexisted in such close proximity.
It was a beautiful day to walk and enjoy each religious building as well as stopping for a cold local drink at a little corner store.
This gave us all a taste of their convenience store which supplied the locals.
Hopping back on our van, with Santos our driver, we drove to a local resort that our hosts were friends with the
owner. I enjoyed the gorgeous water views and was amazed at how the community had rallied around the
owners to rebuild the resort in such a short time from the flood that they had recently experienced.
Our day with Carmen and Jose concluded with our return back to their yoga studio where we were able to enjoy
watching and assisting the local school children with their yoga and English lessons.
I feel my day spent with Carmen and Jose really let me experience India’s sites and people.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to see India and form new friendships with our India-Love Spreading Dream Team!
I will never forgot all the wonderful memories!

There are so many spectacular memories to choose from, but for me the day on the river was truly magical. As we left the city...

and became more and more immersed in traditional Indian culture, I got a deep sense of how connected all of us really are. The way the Indian strangers would meet our eyes when we smiled at them and their faces would break into beaming smiles as well, welcoming us in their country. The way they’d wave and cheer from their boats as we waved and cheered from ours. It was a love fest between East and West, without any words even needing to be exchanged. We looked as exotic and “other” to them as they looked to us, but we all went right past that into one another’s souls. I’ve always been in love with the word “namaste,” and this trip was pure namaste in action.
Thanks, Lisa M.

There are so many wonderful parts of our trip that I was having a hard time picking just one. So, I'm sharing the highlights that were so meaningful to me.

Being immersed in the Indian culture was extremely exhilarating. The day that we spent with Jose and Carmen being with the children at the yoga studio, learning why you eat with your hands at breakfast, enlightened about the community where four different religions worship together in peace and the outstanding yoga retreat was a day filled with so many amazing sights, sounds and tastes. Visiting the Paradise Synagogue that’s four hundred fifty years old was a moment in time that I will always cherish. I loved experiencing the Chinese Boats pulling on the huge ropes to bring the nets up and the Back Water House Boat Tour on the beautiful lake eating lunch. The Hindu Festival was a once in a lifetime memory, as well as visiting the Dubai Mall, riding on their Metro laughing with our Dream Team, and taking the elevator up to the top. But, the very, very BEST part was making life long friends with my Dream Team Family and the incredible memories we shared together!!!

It is hard to choose my “best” or favorite or happiest time because truthfully there were so many! I loved all the connections we made with the local Indian people. The smiles and the warmth they all exuded were priceless to me. I loved so many of the activities we attended but my top ones were: The beautiful Kerala Backwaters, the Amazing Elephant Festival with beating drums and umbrellas of various colors, watching the Indian children take Karma yoga lessons from Carmine and learn English from Jose at La Arcadia Institute, par-taking in pulling up the unique Chinese fishing nets in Kochi, doing a handstand at the Arabian Sea, and going up to the top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai!! Truly a breath-taking sight!

but these weren’t the only memorable moments. Spending quality time with the special people who were on this trip meant so much to me. Learning about each person on a deeper level was amazing. Connecting to Bobby and listening to his Hindu storytelling on the bus. All these moments are priceless. Also so many memorable conversations would the yogis who were on this trip: talking to you Margie, to the spice girls. Was incredible. laughing, living, and just loving life together! Our tribe was incredible. I also enjoyed getting to know Boris while standing in line waiting at the airport and quit conversations with Tyler as well. All in all.. I couldn’t have asked for a more memorable and amazing time! I am forever grateful for the experience and for the new family eye now have as a result of this trip. I love you Margie and words can never express how much you mean to me and how happy I am that you chose me to come on this incredible journey with you. Thank you, thank you with all my heart for making this happen. You did an outstanding and incredible job. Love, Stacey.

The entire India trip was an amazing life changing journey that I will be proud to say I have experienced. There is simply not one aspect I can say is my favorite. However, I will concede that if I did have to choose would be the culture and food. The Indian people were a very genuinely loving people especially the children. I feel that their attitude is a clear anthesis from American kids. There, they are not influenced by materialistic wants that manifest with American children. They live a very austere life with very little luxuries but enjoy the smallest things in life.

When we were driving back to the hotel from Ft. Kochi, I had a very genuine interaction with an Indian child and his family from our bus. I was playing a simple game of peek-a-boo. Maybe he never saw a foreigner before but It was just that small moment that probably made a huge difference in his life. One my favorite places was the Lu Lu shopping mall. Despite India’s still evolving infrastructure, I was surprised by the contemporary style of the mall. What intrigued me was how Americanized it felt. It mostly had all the staple stores of an American mall. Interestingly, the food court featured Indian versions of our favorite quick service eateries such as Burger King and Mc Donald’s. However, they all had an Indian Twist. They Only served various Chicken dishes and sandwiches but completely devoid of Hamburgers. It was a great trip with a stellar itinerary. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and want to thank America Connected for making this all possible.

Oh... it’s so hard to pin point my favorite moment. It was such a fabulous trip! I will carry in my heart forever the tour of the four religious centers, built near each other in solidarity. The view from the Hindu temple across the river. And, without question, the Back Water tour - the sights, sounds, food and peacefulness. Honestly, then my head spins with other moments, equally wonderful and spirit rich. Thank you my friend...it was a trip I will always treasure. Sarah. Xoxo
